Rich Township High School District 227 and elementary Districts 159 160 162 163 boards met to elect a representative to a regional district reorganization committee under new state reform. Clinton Kinney presided as meeting convenor, with four candidates nominated to represent Rich Township on the regional panel.
David R. Barr of Richton Park was elected by board members from School Districts 159, 160, 162, 163 and 227 to represent Rich Township on the Cook South Region school district reorganization committee. Other candidates included Dr John K. Brown, John H. Munger and Howard Nochumson. Barr, a 35 year Rich Township resident and attorney, has long served District 227, led local education groups, and will join a 12 member state framework committee guiding district consolidation and educational equity.
Rich Central earned its first victory with a 6 to 0 shutout of Bremen. Rich East edged TF South 15 to 14 while Rich South defeated Hillcrest 22 to 16 in overtime. Full area grid action coverage follows.
