Police report a rear window break in at Robert Jeffrey Hair Studio 18831 Dixie Highway Homewood between 9 p.m. Sept 15 and 7:30 a.m. Sept 16. About $4,000 was taken. This follows another break in to a Kedzie Avenue salon with an unspecified cash loss.
A 20-year-old Lynwood man reported he was pulled from his truck near 181st and Burnham Avenues around 1:15 a.m. Thursday. The suspects struck him and caused about 100 in vehicle damage before fleeing. he escaped and called police. No injuries or arrests reported.
A 20 year old Country Club Hills man was shot in the face behind the Provincetown clubhouse after an amicable dispute over a relationship. Calvin Stewart 28 Gregory Washington 22 and Robert Shepherd 18 were charged with murder or aiding a fugitive. Witnesses described a blue Monte Carlo fleeing the scene with three others. Bond set at 1 million Stewart, 250000 Shepherd, 100000 Washington. Next hearing Oct 4.
Jerome Jones a 16 year old from Country Club Hills pleads not guilty to murder and armed robbery in the July 29 killing of Lillie Ford a 75 year old woman who was babysitting her three great grandchildren. Prosecutors allege he forced his way into her home tied the children and strangled Ford, then fled in her silver 1980 Chevrolet Malibu which was later found in Chicago Heights. Jones is held without bond in Cook County Jail.
Family and Mental Health Services Southwest elected three area businessmen to its board at the 27th annual meeting in August. New members are William B. Clancy of Glenwood, Louis J. Kole of Oak Lawn, and Frederick J Sampias of Munster Indiana.
Richton Park police report an arrest after a 17 year old was charged with criminal damage to property and ethnic intimidation in a case where weed killer burned a Nazi swastika into the lawn of a home on Arquilla Drive. The incident occurred on June 21 and a hate crime investigation followed.
Police accuse Eric Penegor of burning a swastika on a lawn to upset a Jewish family. He is due in Markham court on November 2. A Richton Park man faces a felony charge of deceptive practice for writing $3,500 in bad checks. Kenneth Majdanowski of Arlington Drive was arrested Thursday. A 1989 Jeep Wrangler was reported stolen Tuesday night from the Sauk Trail commuter lot in Richton Park.
Joseph E. Andraitis a 43 year old man from 634 Marquette Ave died after being struck by a car while crossing Torrence Avenue at 9 45 p m witnesses said a fast northbound vehicle struck him and sped away. Norbert L Wilson 58 of Cedar Lake Ind was arrested for leaving the scene and failing to notify police after the fatal collision.
