Greenfield levy debate delays action on special service area
Village Attorney notes levy depends on timing of first levy implementation. Residents may petition to defeat the proposal within 60 days after the public hearing, with at least 51 percent of special service area residents needed to disapprove. If the period passes, the village may adopt the ordinance creating the area. Construction on the 400 unit Richton Park subdivision began in March, with phase one due by September. Greenfield includes 300 single family homes and 100 town houses with a boulevard style main street and traffic circles.
