Park Forest arrests after Labor Day cookout threats

Park Forest police arrested Michael Johnson 39 and Fred Shaw 82 after a heated Labor Day cookout dispute in which Johnson allegedly threatened to kill Shaw and brandished a butcher knife while Shaw reportedly fired a gun. Johnson was charged with aggravated assault and Shaw with reckless conduct and lack of a valid firearm ID.

Collision on Cicero Avenue injures Matteson woman

Anita Maiella, an Alsip resident, suffered a broken ankle when her car collided with a van driven by Charles Tucker after he allegedly made a left turn onto Vollmer Road from Cicero Avenue. The 3:40 p.m. crash in Matteson led to Tucker receiving multiple traffic tickets.
