Rescue Beehive War Ends As Yellowjackets Are Removed
Two summers ago a Chicago Heights family found a giant yellowjacket nest behind an air conditioner at 247 Abbott Ave. Beekeeper Blair of Blair's Bee Removal extracted the nest, estimated at 20,000 wasps and 10,000 eggs, after months of patrol by the Baileys. Blair warns homeowners to watch for entry points and advises safe stinger removal. The incident highlights the danger for allergic individuals and the risks of abandoned nests in walls.
