Richton Park moves to acquire land for big commuter lot
Richton Park officials led by Village Manager Marilynne Davis began formal talks to buy nine parcels for a 7.8 acre commuter parking facility to serve over 700 spaces. Appraisals from private firms have gone to IDOT and UMTA for review with 90 percent funding from agencies. The project includes road improvements and a Kiss and Ride area. Matteson Halloween Activities Are Brewing
Matteson Jaycees host their second annual haunted house at Memorial Park Field House from tomorrow through Halloween night with a 7 to 10 pm schedule. A pumpkin carving event tonight runs 7 to 8:30 pm at Memorial Park Picnic Shelter for four to 13 year olds with an adult. $1 covers the pumpkin. A Halloween parade together with United Way of Matteson and American Legion Post 474 begins Monday at 6:30 pm from Village Hall to Matteson Elementary School for costume judging and refreshments. Police urge trick or treating to end by 9 pm on October 31. Proceeds fund local nonprofit activities and projects.
