Rich Township High School District 227 approved a new two year salary and benefits contract with Local 327 after ratification on Oct 6. The settlement affects 164 union members across three high schools, including secretaries custodians clerical staff instructional aides cafeteria workers monitors and technical support staff.

Reverse drug sting nets 40 arrests in Heights

Chicago Heights and Ford Heights officers joined with the Suburban Drug Initiative and the Northeastern Metropolitan Enforcement Group for a two night sting. Undercover county officers posed as drug dealers near 17th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue in Ford Heights on Thursday and near 13th Street and Mason Court in Chicago Heights on Friday. Detective David Basile called it a first for the city and praised undercover officers for high risk work. No incidents were reported.
