District 159 faces tax hike to fund education goals
District 159 officials warn that lower than projected EAV and smaller state aid create a deficit. If voters approve the referendum, the tax rate would rise from 1.61 to 2.05 per 100 of EAV, increasing a home’s bill by about 52 dollars on an 80k assessed value. The board also notes potential funding cuts to full day kindergarten next year and pitches district wellness and parental programs. Leonard Brown sworn in as new board member replacing James Madorma.
