District 159 bids farewell to three veteran board members
Matteson District 159 will honor three long serving school board members at the Board of Education meeting. Frances Myers Keith McRae and Henry Swan will retire next month after 19, 19 and 6 years on the board respectively. While bidding farewell they praise district growth and stress the need for new blood and greater parental involvement.

Cook County mulls used car lot dispute next Tuesday
Cook County Board of Commissioners plans a vote on a proposed used car lot on unincorporated land between Harlem and Ridgeland avenues north of Lincoln Highway. Matteson officials oppose. Zoning Board favored a five year sunset to allow a transition to a possible commercial auto service district before reverting to residential in five years.

Richton Park Sets Trick or Treat Hours and Party Schedule
Richton Park trustees set Halloween hours from 2 p m to 8 p m for children and plan a free party at Glaeser Park from 6 30 p m to 8 30 p m for youngsters 13 and under. The party will feature story telling a magic show a haunted alley a costume parade and a ghost walk. The board also approved a United Way month proclamation and moved forward on zoning and redevelopment actions including an industrial park on the west side of Cicero at Sauk Trail a Bohrman farm office industrial plan redevelopment with Midwest Sintered Products and related plat and variance requests as well as a $1 5 million bond issue for park infrastructure and a special-use permit for the library.
