Cook County GOP endorses slate. Stroger challenged
The Cook County Republican Central Committee endorsed candidates for most countywide offices, excluding County Board president. Top potential rivals include State Senator Steve Rauschenberger and County Commissioner Peter Sylvestri, who say fundraising and party backing are needed to mount a credible challenge. The committee plans to wait on endorsing the board president until the statewide ticket shapes up.
