Dollars due for expanding bike trails
Springfield reports $510,400 in new grants to expand bike trails in the South Suburbs. Cook County Forest Preserve aims three mile loop at Midlothian Meadows. Tinley Creek Greenway would reach 18.5 miles. Will County District joins 12.25 miles of Old Plank Road Trail. 28 communities gain access to 90 miles of new trails. Grant program funds up to half project costs from state vehicle transfer fees. four grants max $200,000.
