Derwinski on the nonpolitics of his new VA job
Secretary Edward Derwinski spoke to Moraine Valley Community College students about the blurred lines between Congress and the executive branch. He described the role of the Veterans Affairs Department as nonideological and focused on a nationwide hospital system, staff dynamics, and budget matters. He warned about egos and the power of office, noting his early struggle with privilege and his aim to remain grounded while serving veterans.
