Slow incinerator opposition from Illinois lawmaker
State Rep. Clem Balanoff of Chicago cautions a rush to build incinerators in the South Suburbs as a fix for garbage problems. He argues burning creates toxic ash and diverts from recycling, urging source reduction and consumer restraint on over packaging. He opposes incinerators in Crestwood, Robbins, Dalton, and a Governors State University medical waste plant.
