Sticker requests lead to mailed 192 vehicle permits
The 192 vehicle sticker applications will be mailed to Matteson residents by December as stickers will be sold without this application due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Illinois EPA specialist Glenn J. Sternard and a reporter found drums removed at a legal dump site Friday morning, leaving only a back hoe from Calumet Industrial Equipment of South Holland. A mound of dirt and PCB waste concerns were noted. Sternard said few sites permit PCB disposal, with high hauling and landfill costs pushing some firms to illegal dumping.

O'Brien to Run as Derwinski Waits On Appeal
U S Rep George O'Brien announced he will run for reelection in the new Fourth Congressional district. Rep Edward Derwinski said he is awaiting the appeal outcome on the reapportionment map before deciding his path. Rep Edward Madigan said he will run in the new 15th district, which spans central Illinois to the south suburbs, including Crete Beecher Park Forest and parts of Will County. The district realignment creates a shallow U shaped Fourth District from Calumet City to Joliet and into Kendall Kane counties, placing both incumbents’ residences in the Fourth. Petitions begin December 8 with a March 16 1982 primary and a November 2 election.
