Village weighs zoning for annexed site near Rich South High
The plan commission discussed annexing a parcel near Rich South High School with staff recommending R-1 residential zoning matching Cook County single family rules. Adjacent land to the north, west, and east is R-1, with a commercial zoned street frontage across Sauk Trail but vacant. Church representatives preferred residential zoning, while the owner’s rep urged an open mind toward commercial. A public hearing date will be set for the annexation. A landscaping permit delay for Hurry Insurance was blamed on changes to the plan, with calls to authorize staff changes before winter and ensure proper procedure at the next November 28 meeting.
