Suburban GOP moves to oust Carey from slate
A regional drive by south and north suburban committeemen seeks to remove Bernard Carey from the 1986 Republican slate of Cook County commissioners. The push, which targets the six incumbents including Carey, hinges on geographical balance and Carey’s perceived lack of southern engagement. The suburban Republican organization has approved a slate with Carey, complicating the bid to replace him before Saturday’s Cicero meeting. Carey defends his record and dismisses claims of indifference.
