Suburbs to gain funds for land buy and aid package
The South Suburbs would receive 75 million dollars for land acquisition for the Peotone airport as part of Illinois FIRST and the fiscal 2000 budget. The package also includes 11.4 million in one time aid for south Cook County schools and 30 million for developmentally disabled services, plus up to 50 million over five years to reclaim abandoned property and boost local economic development led by Cook County Assessor Jim Houlihan and the Southland Chamber of Commerce.
