The Park Forest Farmers Market sells fruits vegetables and flowers from 7 am to 2 pm each Saturday in the Centre parking lot at Lakewood and South Orchard Band awards The Crete Monee Elementary and Middle School bands present their awards concert at Housing A Matteson Housing and Human Relations Committee meeting is at 7 pm in the Village Hall Reading night at Hickory Elementary School University Park is a Family Reading Night for Title II Reading Program participants Activities start at 7 pm at 1009 Blackhawk Drive for more information call Samuel at Hickory Elementary School 672 2651.

Memorial Day observances in Park Forest and Matteson marked by services

Memorial Day programs in Park Forest and Matteson honor veterans with services at Juniper Park and Memorial Park. Richard Sabey will speak, Marines will lay wreaths, and an Honor Guard will fire a salute with bugle Taps. A 10 a.m. parade begins at Matteson Village Hall, followed by wreath placement and a memorial service. CM music awards concert at Crete-Monee High School and a Matteson Homeowners Association meeting also listed.

Senior High Youth Paper Drive and Spring Musical

Saturday and Sunday paper drive hosted by Zion Lutheran Church in Matteson runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church parking lot with pickup available by phone. A Joyful Afternoon at Grace United Protestant Church features the Grace Church Bell Choir and Sanctuary Choir in a spring celebration at 4 p.m. Summer Reading Registration at Park Forest Library runs eight weeks for grades K-8, continuing through July 13. Beginner Kiddie Kamp Offered by Matteson Parks

Crete Park District and Matteson Parks and Recreation offer a six week Kiddie Kamp starting June 17 for 5 year olds at the Matteson Community Center. Residents pay $55. nonresidents pay more. Contact the Recreation office at 748-11080 for details. Water tests in Creekside area run 8 to 11 am through June 25 and may continue to July if weather allows. Residents may see cloudy or discolored water. avoid laundry. limit water use to reduce issues.
