District 205 cuts tax levy and keeps referendum promise
Thornton Township High School District 205 reduced its tax levy after a Cook County Assessor error, lowering the deficiency levy to 5 cents per 100 of EAV and bringing the rate to about 4.18. The move restores promised tax levels and funds a prior intergovernmental loan, while supporters defend Principal ONeal amid parental complaints during the same meeting.
