Controversy Over Forest Preserve Farm Plan Divides Officials
Mount Prospect warns against turning forest preserve land into a theme park while local leaders debate a private Chicago Farmers historical farm project. Illinois Audubon Society backs private land development, urging purchase outside forest preserve boundaries. Chamber of Commerce favors the project if tax dollars aren’t used, but some members fear a public burden. Matteson officials weigh action as they evaluate Chamber stance. A county letter states park lands should stay natural and not become a public expense borne by taxpayers.
