District 170 Educator of the Year Honoree Named
William D. McGee superintendent of Chicago Heights School District 170 was named Outstanding Educator of the Year by Phi Delta Kappa Homewood Chapter 1106. The award was presented March 16 by the educational fraternity whose 270 members hail from the South and Southwest suburbs. Neil Chance praised McGee as an educator's educator while noting the committee’s selection criteria.

Tilden Tech Hi Alumni Association plans its 19th annual dinner dance on April 8 at the Martiniqe Garden Room in Evergreen Park. Cocktails run 7 to 6 p.m., dinner at 8, dancing to midnight. Ticket price ranges from 18 to 80, with about 1,000 former students in active status. The group seeks more former Tildenites to join. Picnic permit sales by phone in Cook County
The Forest Preserve District of Cook County now offers 1994 picnic permits by phone and in person. Residents can call the Picnic Permit Office at (312) 629-6841, Monday through Friday 9 am to 4 pm, to secure a permit for a forest preserve site. A $2 surcharge applies and payment requires Visa or Mastercard. In person permits are available at County Building 118 N Clark St Room 608, Chicago.
