Forest preserve to acquire 15.5 acres via county tax sale
Will County Forest Preserve District plans to purchase 15.5 acres across eight parcels for 1278 dollars to buffer Plum Grove Rock Run and Lockport Prairie preserves. A Chicago based activist group South Corridor Against the Tollway will receive the Champion of the Public Interest Award May 1 at the Law Day Dinner for efforts to influence tollway policy. SCAT chairman John Walliser credited community work with prompting recognition. Gaylyn Grimm, SCAT Lincoln Way chair, worked with legislators on a bill redefining tollway land earmarks and acquisitions.
