Park Forest Teacher Leads African American Youth Club
Emily Means-Willis, Bloom Trail High School English and theater teacher, founded the Trail African American Society in 1970. The group of about 80 students educates on African American history and the electoral process, debates current issues, stages a yearly play, and runs fundraisers to sponsor two scholarships. Means-Willis plans to retire after 36 years, leaving a legacy of mentoring students toward college and civic engagement.
