Relay For Life Teams Forming In Panhandle Area
Relay For Life teams are forming as area groups join the American Cancer Society event. A Relay Rally at Glenwood Oaks Restaurant, with 2000 honorary chair Rep George Scully, will greet veterans and newcomers. About 50 teams totaling around 500 participants are expected to join the June 25 5 PM to June 26 noon outdoor event at Flossmoor High School.

GSU hosts second annual early childhood conference
Governors State University and the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children present the second annual early childhood conference See How They Grow Meeting the Needs of Young Children. The event runs 8 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. Saturday at GSU with 34 sessions on topics from storytelling to autistic students and infant massage. Lillian Katz, professor emeritus at UIUC, will share views on changes and constants in early childhood education during lunch. Tinley Park High School hosts a March 25 benefit called Concert for Cancer to honor Steve Walus who died at 51 from bladder cancer. Brothers Matt and Mark Walus aim to raise about 15000 dollars by selling 2200 tickets for three bands Eternal Caution Skimpy Blue and Caught Naked with donations urged from local businesses.
