Compromise Sought On Army Reserve Site Housing Plan

Residents at a PADS open forum urged alternatives to a centralized transitional housing project at the abandoned Army Reserve site. Homewood officials proposed scattered housing across the South Suburbs to aid families in transition, citing tax and school costs and community impact. Several residents offered to help find an alternate site while stressing the need to keep the community engaged and not isolated. The plan aims to house stable families for six months to two years with social services support, though concerns about school district effects were raised.
