Independence Day closures and local recreation options in Will County
Township offices and the community center will close Tuesday for Independence Day and reopen Wednesday. Monee Reservoir in Will County operates under Forest Preserve District, open 6 am to 8 pm with a concession stand, rowboat and pedal boat rentals, bait, fishing licenses, and gear available. The lake stocks largemouth bass crappie bluegill and channel catfish with free shoreline fishing. The preserve hosts July nature stories at Plum Creek Nature Center and Isle a la Cache Museum, both free 2 pm to 2:30 pm. Also listed are bike rides from Homewood Flossmoor to Park Forest and nearby venues with schedules, plus a charity concert, student hosting program, blood drive, and free school physicals in Park Forest.
