A StarPoll survey shows a majority prefer the south suburban area as home with more than 52 percent approval. Results were delayed due to trouble obtaining totals from the phone company as Illinois Bell ends non scientific polling.
The Matteson Library Board hires architect consultant Jeffrey Olls wang of Midwest Institute for Design Research to run a design contest with a $58 000 cap covering contest costs including salary travel and juror awards. Publicizing is planned for late August or September with 13 000 architects notified. Three sites are under consideration and a July site decision is expected. The board also lands an Illinois State Library grant of 800 dollars to buy a fax machine to aid interlibrary material sharing.
