Remodeling of old structures and construction of new ones began at Crawford avenue and 211th street to form Matteson Shopping Center. The project is slated for January 1979 completion with a $40 million business volume. MONY funds $6.9 million, LaSalle National Bank trustee. New tenants include Woolco, Pier One Imports, Walgreen, The Gap, Sounds Unlimited, Mills Minnesota Fabrics, Hit or Miss, and Winchells, while current tenants Matteson Library and others stay.
