Police beat information compiled from local apartment spokesmen and official reports at area police stations. Ultimate guilt or innocence of individuals named in Police Beat remains to be decided in a court of law.
Vazquez, 26, of 874 Yorktown Road, Chicago Heights, was charged with drag racing, license classification violation, and driving without insurance after police observed him on a motorcycle speeding near Halsted Street and Joe Orr Road about 10 30 p m on June 7. A separate incident on Wentworth Avenue around 9 p m on June 7 involved a 27 year old male reporting he was struck with fists by three people, fled to his vehicle, then was struck with a sharp object on the deck.
Matteson Garcia Ismael aged 39 of 264 E 14th Street go Heights faced multiple charges after a Lincoln Highway traffic stop including driving under the influence with a BAC over .08 improper lane usage and a revoked license plus driving without insurance. Breathalyzer reading reported as 0.30. Also charged were Alvin Irby 29 and Richard G Zygadlo 33 of 21609 Governors Highway with criminal trespass to property. Zygadlo held on an Oak Forest warrant. Irby and Zygadlo found in a motel room said to be unoccupied. Andre L Johnson 35 of 245 Arcadia Park Forest charged with June 9 retail theft at Lincoln Mall. A vehicle stolen Saturday from a Lincoln Highway area car dealership. contents included a cellular phone and 75 neckties. Scott A Kelley 18 of 3404 W 218th St Matteson charged with unlawful possession of firearm ammunition. Aapa A Kuita 30 of 35 S Elm Lane Glenwood charged with theft June 9 for taking $100 from a Lincoln Mall cash register.
Two bicycles were stolen June 10 from a garage in the 4400 block of Bretz Drive. Police also report a separate theft Friday at a residence in the 22300 block of Ridgeway involving a WA passport a metal lock box travelers checks and airline tickets.
A cellular phone was taken from a car at Imperial and Latonia. Multiple arrests followed for unlawful cannabis possession and driving with no valid license, including Corey T. Ainscough, Dimna E. Padilla, Sandro D. Espinoza, and Glenwood Joseph Bernard Stephenson. The driver Tommie K. Jackson faced warrants and a loud exhaust charge. An attempted burglary at Transcontinental Systems and a yard theft of patio furniture on Park Drive were also reported.
Homewood resident Antonio Lomax, 19, was charged with felony unlawful possession of cannabis and Andrew Price, 20, charged with misdemeanor possession after a stop near Pine Road at 11:55 p.m. About 100 grams of marijuana in 32 bags was found in the car and a small amount in Price's wallet. Police reports detail the seizure and charges.
A bicycle was stolen from an open Hazel Crest garage on River Road. Multiple suspects faced charges including criminal trespass to residence, failure to signal, driving with a suspended license, illegal drug and cannabis possession, domestic battery, battery on a deputy, residential burglary, felony retail theft, battery after a fight, disorderly conduct for park alcohol, and driving under the influence with drug paraphernalia and no insurance.
A four day sweep by the Cook County sheriff office resulted in the arrest of 158 fugitives announced Monday. Among those detained were Necomoshea Moore 27 of 17303 Apple Tree Drive Hazel Crest who failed to complete probation from 1995 gang related charges and Mitchelline Wynn 26 of 6203 S Talman Ave Chicago Lawn who also violated probation after pleading guilty to an attack and purse theft on a 70 year old woman waiting for a bus at 6300 S Western Ave in March 1998. Officers seized a rifle with a scope and three other firearms during the operation.
