Violinist Hugh Gibson offers a free 1 p.m. concert at the Nathan Manilow Theatre in Freedom Hall Park Forest today. Local arts groups promote the event as a community outreach and cultural highlight for residents.
The Garden Society of the Crete Woman's Club hosts A Day in the Country from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine. Five gardens open for tours with lunch served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person or $10 for walk only. Plum Creek offers ticket sales.
LifeSource Blood Services hosts a drive at Congregation Am Echad in Park Forest from 4 to 8 pm. Monee Township trustees meet at 7:30 pm. A Rich East High School car wash raises funds from 9 am to 3 pm with $5 per vehicle. Crete Township Firefighters host Street Dance ’99 and raffle at Balmoral Park Beer Garden from 7 pm to 1 am featuring High Noon and DJ. Raffle tickets are entrance fees.

Richton Park hosts its second annual Family Fest at Glaeser Park with a 10 a.m. kickoff parade and a daylong lineup of live bands arts and crafts flea market a petting zoo pony rides face painting mime a pie eating contest a rock climbing wall balloon typhoon a giant slide and moon walk. The Wednesday task group of Matteson Elementary District 162 will meet at 1 30 p m at Illinois Elementary School 210 Illinois St Park Forest The group researches programs and curriculum for the district s new Choice School slated to open at Illinois Elementary for the 2000 01 school year
The Park Forest Recreation and Parks Department offers a bus trip to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs face the Kansas City Royals.
