Matteson Sells Oakwood School for 425000 to Village

Matteson Elementary District 162 votes to sell Oakwood school to the village of Matteson for 425000 after appraisal review and months of negotiations. Village renovations fund library and park and recreation uses. Oakwood housed Matteson Historical Society since 1979. Board members note price below 580000 ask but the village is the likely buyer.

DeAngelis agrees to meeting after police picket outing

Police officers from Olympia Fields Matteson Richton Park and Park Forest picketed a Lincolnshire country club fundraiser for state Sen. Aldo DeAngelis. They demanded answers on collective bargaining rights for police and fire personnel and he agreed to a face to face meeting to clarify his position. DeAngelis noted support for extending rights but urged a single unified framework under SB 536 to avoid multiple bargaining boards. The protest followed DeAngelis vote against a new police and fire bargaining bill that failed by one vote earlier.

Resident asks police protection in Richton Park

LINSCO Proposed To Lobby For South Cook Public Schools

The Illinois Association of School Boards proposes a new South Cook lobbying arm named LINSCO to influence the Illinois General Assembly on public education funding mandates and busing.
