Reynolds files federal suit over alleged prison racism

Former U S Representative Mel Reynolds moves to file a federal discrimination case against Vienna Correctional Center officials in Southern Illinois. His attorney says racial remarks toward him and other Black inmates occurred during his imprisonment for having sex with a minor. Filing fee issues and lost postal money order delay the suit. Reynolds, once a rising Chicago Democrat, began serving a five year term and has since been moved to East Moline.
