Illinois approves emergency rules for school construction grants
The Illinois State Board of Education adopted emergency rules for new school construction and debt service grants totaling 1.4 billion over five years. Districts with March 17 referendums and other eligible districts may apply February 1, with priority given to those passing referendums this March. Grants vary by district wealth and referendum timing, and up to 530 million in construction grants and 12 million in debt service grants may be awarded before June 30.
