New Police Chief Installed in Richton Park
William Burke was sworn in as Richton Park police chief at the village board meeting. Appointed January 3 by Village Manager Marilynne B. Davis, Burke, 32, a DePaul University graduate in social studies and speech, resides in Tinley Park with his wife and three children. He is pursuing a masters in public service at Governors State University, and will lead a 14 full‑time and six part‑time department.

Richton Park plans advance HUD study with three year grant
Trustees hired Trkla Pettigrew Allen and Payne to draft a three year housing environmental and commercial analysis for Richton Park. Villagers will help shape the plan while Cook County will fund the project as the HUD proposal is prepared and refined through January 1980.

Rich Township appoints Turner as senior services coordinator
The Rich township board named Vivenne Turner of Park Forest as coordinator of senior services at the Monday meeting, replacing Louise Miller who became director of services last month. Turner, an occupational therapist, joined the township seniors staff in October and worked at Juniper Towers in Park Forest. The board also advanced plans for a spring opening of the new senior citizen center and set dates for budget hearings on road, bridge, and general assistance, with public hearings in March and April.
