TIF reform MEG funding bills face last brief action
South suburban lawmakers race to pass four measures including Illinois TIF reform, Robbins and Ford Heights village funds, Tinley Park Mental Health Center land conveyance, and a Cook County MEG grant before outgoing legislators depart. Negotiators say major TIF changes curb incentives for golf course development, cap municipal overhead, require joint board review, and guarantee school district aid for new residential TIFs. Funding for Robbins and Ford Heights targets at least 5 million over 10 years from landfill subsidies, while a 1 million MEG emergency grant may face opposition due to police reassignments and reliance on local anti drug programs.

Post Office Sees Rush for 1-Cent Stamps Amid Rate Hike
Tinley Park’s U S Postal Service branch sells over 100000 one cent stamps as of Saturday as rates rise from 32 to 33 cents. Branch supervisor Rick Giffen ordered another 100000 stamps to meet demand and notes heavier mail will offset costs. Some customers like Gary Ellis bridge the gap by buying multiple stamps while officials issue H labeled stamps until 33 cent stamps are widespread.
