Bank fraud charges against former Illinois financier William Stoecker
Former Oak Forest businessman William Stoecker, once seen as a Chicago area finance wunderkind, was indicted on 49 counts of bank fraud and related crimes. He allegedly secured about 400 million dollars in loans from 25 banks between 1984 and 1989, using falsified statements and double pledged collateral. The case, described by prosecutors as potentially the largest bank fraud in Illinois history, also targets four associates and Grabill Corporation officials.
