Governors State University will raise in state undergraduate tuition to 1068 dollars for upper division students and 1152 dollars for full time graduates. The five percent increase, the seventh straight but the smallest since 1979, was approved by the Board of Governors despite a dissenting vote from Robert Ruiz of Chicago. Layzell cited affordability concerns yet said funding needs require higher tuition to maintain quality education at GSU and its peers.
