Park Forest Health Department marks a decade of the Access to Care program, a Suburban Primary Health Care Council effort uniting public and private bodies to provide primary care and discounted ancillary services to uninsured suburban Cook County residents. About 350 physicians volunteer, serving roughly 18,000 people with incomes under 200 percent of poverty level. Enrollment occurs at 47 sites across 735 square miles, with funding from Cook County, townships, municipalities, foundations, and donors. The program aims to serve 14,500 this year and is supported by various medical bodies and the Chicago medical community. For more information call (708) 531-0680.
