Illinois GOP push to rename I-57 for Reagan stirs debate
In Illinois a push by Senate Republicans to rename Interstate 57 for Ronald Reagan prompts outcry from Democrats who note Marshall has been the preferred honoree. State Sen. Walter Dudycz says Reagan’s Illinois ties justify the gesture, while critics warn it is improper since federal rules limit interstate naming to plaques at rest stops and cost about ten thousand dollars to install.

Andy Knott, press secretary, states the State's Attorney's Office does not release investigation results to the press and did not influence the Star obtaining a letter to Mayor Sherman. He emphasizes that all Open Meetings Act complaints are reviewed regardless of the complainant, and calls for a straightforward examination of the complaint.
