ESDA chief used township phone for family calls

Taxpayers in Rich Township paid the bill for calls to the ex ESDA chief Charles Corkery’s parents in Union Michigan for most of 1992. The calls included several to residential numbers and to the township office, with little or no repayment by Corkery. Missing ESDA records prompt probe into taxpayer funds

The Star reports missing Emergency Services and Disaster Agency bills from Oct 1991 to Oct 1992 in Rich Township. Only phone company remittance slips were found. Ameritech Mobile Communications bills remained elusive until mid-December when March–December 1992 bills were recovered and copied for the paper after pressure from Mary Britton and George Falaney.
