Teens and seniors exchange gifts without meeting at Oak Forest center
Teens from The Coffeehouse and seniors who use the Oak Forest Senior Center swap gifts and notes each month, starting with a jar of pretzel sticks. The program, a cooperative effort of Karen Koch the DARE officer and Snowball from Bremen High School District 228, aims to build intergenerational ties through ongoing book donations and handwritten notes. The Coffeehouse, formed in 1997, runs monthly at 15501 S Kilpatrick Ave with about 50 teens from four area high schools, offering a drug free space for music dance games and coffee.
