Tell Your Story Walking A Civil Rights Complaint Rejected
A U S Department of Education OCR hearing officer found insufficient evidence to support Celina Rocha's civil rights complaint against South Suburban College. Rocha, a Chicago Heights resident and mother of two who is legally blind, was arrested on campus on December 10 1993 after a dispute with the Student Government Association. The college charged Rocha with five misdemeanors alleging theft of documents and related offenses, stating she struck a police officer with her cane and resisted arrest. The charges remain pending, and Rocha was not a college student at the time, so no internal discipline was pursued.
