Kaufman and Broad Homes seeks approval to add model areas in Woodgate subdivision west of Central avenue between Vollmer road and Route 30. Matteson plan commission rejects the plan calling town houses single family and demanding larger lots. They accuse the builder of deceptive advertising after an ad ran in a Chicago paper.

ICG Explains Storm Snafus In snowbound Illinois Central Gulf service

ICG officials told the Chicago South Suburban Mass Transit district board that heavy snow and freezing temperatures caused traction motor failures on commuter cars. High snow buried exit valves and broke protective screens, forcing replacement of 55 motors at 3700 dollars each and round-the-clock work to restore service.

Rich South to sample pupil lunch for parents Thursday

Fair Housing Efforts Blocked by Real Estate Board Stand

Municipal leaders pushed to form a joint committee with brokers to address fair housing issues but hit a snag when the National Association of Realtors opposed court order participation by its member boards. NAR's stance, voiced by Robert Turpin, warned that joining the settlement would contradict the group’s equal opportunity and integrated housing policies. Richton Park Names Librarian and Shifts Meeting Night

Mark Mandle is appointed administrative librarian of Richton Park Public Library, taking duties January 22 and replacing Mark West. He previously led reference at Highland Park library and has long worked in interlibrary cooperative activities. The library board also changes its meeting night to the fourth Wednesday each month at the Governors Highway facility.
