Local volunteers keep PADS shelter running in community effort
Mary Strom of Olympia Fields cooks for 40 at Hazel Crest Church site, part of a 3200-strong volunteer network. Homewood coordinator organizes 70-75 cook teams to provide meals at multiple sites, with volunteers handling food, training, and night shifts. Police calls and bans occur for safety, yet weddings and teamwork highlight PADS impact, as donors and ministers assist guests with housing and support.
