Three south suburban women including a 16 year old were charged with the murder of Calumet City day care worker Lois Thomas. Bond set at 3 million each. Investigators say the trio kidnapped beaten and dumped Thomas in the Little Calumet River on December 20.

A sheriff deputy’s running car with two 9mm handguns was stolen Dec 20 from 4600 block of West 175th Place. In separate incidents, a home window was broken Dec 22 with tire slashing on West 177th Street, a construction site yielded appliances Dec 16 or 17 on Rainsloe Terrace, and a pickup was stolen Dec 17 from Hillcrest High School. Siding damage and a window break with pellet damage occurred Dec 17 or 18 on Winston Avenue. a bike vanished from West 175th Street Dec 18. Diane Rush, 39, of Homewood, was charged with two counts of retail theft for alleged thefts at Blockbuster Video and Eagle Country Market on Dec 18, with additional warrants.
