College board OKs levy with 1.6 percent rise
The Prairie State College board approved a $7,943,493 property tax levy for the 1995 tax year, up 1.6 percent. Education and operations funds rise 2.7 percent while bond and interest drop 2.8 percent. A half-cent rate increase brings two funds to 23.5 cents per $100 EAV, adding about $90,000.

The Prairie State College board preliminarily approves a global education policy and funding to recruit international students. A 135000 two year cost sparks debate over local recruitment versus foreign tuition potential. A coordinator will be hired by July 1996 to recruit 20 students in fall 1997 and 50 more by fall 1998.
