Malone is Volunteer of the Year in Park Forest
Mary Malone, a founding member of the South Suburban Nuclear Weapons Freeze Committee formed in 1982, was named Peace Action Volunteer of the Year at a Park Forest Public Library meeting. She helped merge Freeze with SANE to form Peace Action and produced logos brochures and greeting cards advancing the group’s goal to cut the arms race and redirect funds to human needs and environmental protection. The organization has members from 30 south suburban communities and meets monthly in Park Forest library Ringering Room.
