Kustra pushes tech over funding politics for school equity
Lt. Governor Robert Kustra at Vision 2000 urged using technology to bridge Illinois funding gaps rather than seeking state legislative solutions. He cited a 1990 lawsuit against Gov. Thompson and state officials over unequal funding, noting wealthier districts spend thousands more per student. He urged linking districts via telecommunications to offer courses like Russian, supported by better teacher training and pay reforms.
