Will County juvenile jail gets federal grant support
U.S. Rep. Jerry Weller and local sheriffs announced a $10.3 billion federal grant program to build or expand jails, aiding Will and Kankakee counties in funding a planned 75 to 101 bed juvenile facility on Joliet’s west side. County officials expect state and local contributions plus 25 percent from Kankakee upon final agreements, with target to start after federal guidelines are set.
