Nine arrested in cannabis bust by Chicago Heights police
Police say an undercover narcotics operation in the 1400 block of Arnold Street led to confiscation of 30 grams of cannabis from nine individuals from Calumet City Park Forest Crete Matteson and Chicago Heights and a 16 year old. Detectives led the investigation and cited multiple arrests for drug offenses.

Man charged with assault after Homewood confrontation
Ricky Koepp, 36, of Hammond, Indiana, was charged with assault after allegedly threatening a former friend at a Homewood apartment on 184th Street around 3 a.m. He demanded entry while intoxicated, and a Sept. 29 court date was set. Police also investigated a break in on Ridge Road where a mountain bike with a child seat and a compressor, valued at about $800, were stolen.

University Park Man Killed in Interstate 57 Crash
Allan Carney, 38, of Barrow Court, died after his car left I 57, struck a bridge support near ee Road, then medics pronounced him at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Medical Center. Witnesses said the car did not slow. Police also arrested Jeff Gibbs, 27, on a revoked license charge and other infractions, handing him to Cook County sheriff on an obstructing a court order warrant.

Hazle Crest suspects face multiple charges in weekend incidents
Hazel Crest lawrence Ward, 33, 1840 W 170th St, charged with assault battery and resisting a peace officer after a fight with his girlfriend early Saturday. William Pearson, 18, 1736 Heather Hill Crescent, Flossmoor, charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon and firearms offenses after police found a loaded 9mm in his car during a speeding stop. A 19-year-old Hazel Crest girl reported being assaulted by at least two girls near Chestnut Drive and Elm Drive around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. A parakeet and cage were stolen from a front porch on 170th Street between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Cherie Curington, 26, 14710 Central Ave., Oak Forest, charged with battery aggravated assault and damage to a vehicle after a fight at Series Park. Randy Griffin, 20, 22606 Latonia Lane, Richton Park, charged with cannabis possession after a 2:30 a.m. traffic stop at Governors Highway.

Will County Michael D. Roberts age 45 of 1380 Stone Bridge Road Crete was arrested at 6 13 p m Aug 27 and charged with speeding and driving under the influence after deputies stopped him near Richton Road and Old Post Road Crete Township for 63 mph in a 40 mph zone and a 16 percent breathalyzer reading.

Park Forest man arrested for failing to appear in court
Park Forest police Saturday arrested Myron Broxton 26 of 11 Apache St for failing to appear on two counts of criminal sexual abuse involving two teenage girls. Broxton was charged earlier this month and a warrant issued after he missed a court date Aug. 21. Police also charged 12 people with mob action and disorderly conduct after a large fight behind Jewel Food Store on S Orchard Drive, with several juveniles among those charged.
